Although officers are told generally to waive interviews wherever possible, occasionally applicants and their spouses will be asked to attend an interview where a marriage of convenience is suspected or facts appear inconsistent in the presentation of the application or if there has been a third party report on the credibility of the relationship.

If a relationship of convenience is suspected officers will interview the applicant and the sponsor separately and here are some of the questions that officers can ask.

The list is not exhaustive, but these type of questions can quickly reveal the knowledge that one party has of the other. In preparing for the interview, the parties must definitely know all details in their applications filed and be aware of the day-to-day living habits of the other. Minor differences in answering are inconsequential, but as you can see a few wrong answers can cause an application to fail.
